Radar Integrator Board

A PC Hardware and Software Module that provides digital radar image overlay, automatic detection, acquisition and tracking of radar targets (full ARPA Functionality).
Combination of a chart, current coordinates and the surface situation data allows the instant assessment (at a single glance) of the sailing conditions relative to the surface dangers shown by the radar, and submerged obstacles displayed on the chart.
The general-purpose channels designed for synchronization and interface with radar, as well as programmable devices for communication with logs and gyros, ensure the RIB interfaces with any type of navigation radar. The long term capability to record the radar picture and tracked targets motion and to play back this recording at a later date, ensures accurate documenting of the navigational situation.
The Radar Integrator Board enables
- Automatic detection,
- Automatic acquisition and automatic tracking of targets
- Calculations of the targets coordinates and motion parameters, and on-line transmission of this data to the systems
- Formation of a radar picture to be displayed together with an electronic chart.
Compatibility
RIB is a hardware module fully compatible with Navi-Sailor systems, intended for the reception of an analog video signal from the radar and its digital processing.
Input of radar signals
- analog/digital conversion of radar signals
- suppression of sea, non-synchronous and other random interference
Selection of radar targets
- Selection of objects by size from a set range of values
- Detection of radar echoes with an adaptive threshold
- Determining of target's gravity centre and coordinates
- Scan-to-scan correlation and smoothing out of target co-ordinates
- Automatic acquisition, scan-to-scan identification and tracking of up to 512 targets simultaneously
- Automatic assigning of code names to new targets
- Determining of targets' motion parameters
- target's range (in miles)
- target's true bearing (in degrees)
- target's relative course (in degrees)
- target's relative speed (in knots)
- target's true course (in degrees)
- target's true speed (in knots)
- Synthesis of a digital radar picture, improvement of surface situation and coastline presentation (contrasting, filtering and clutter suppression)
- Conversion of coordinates, orientation and scale of radar pictures
- Scan-to-scan correlation of primary radar pictures or their selected fragments to enable the target extraction or viewing

The Radar Integrator consists of a short (120 mm) PCI standard board installed in the computer and two external modules: a high frequency module (HF-box) and a low frequency module (LF-box), connected with a PCI board with cables. HF-box has two BNC connectors for input signals, whilst the external lines are connected to the LF-box by means of screw terminals.
Utilised Resources
One IRQ line (3-7, 9 - 15), power supply from a standard (internal) power supply unit of an IBM PC compatible computer: +5,0 V/ 0,7 A, +12 V/ 0,1 A, -12 V/ 0,1 A
Computer Requirements
The minimum computer requirements are as follows: Pentium 200 MMX, RAM 64 Mb.
