| The Model Wizard Spatial Database Modeling System is intended for generating and further editing databases for simulators of the Navi-Trainer ver. 4000 family and higher. It is also designed for the planning of construction works at ports, research of depth model and the modelling of navigational situations. The Model Wizard is a stand-alone system, which does not require any additional software.

Components
The system includes databases on magnetic deviations, racons, lighthouses and buoy topmarks. Further, the Model Wizard incorporates an editor for creating and modifying models of 3D coastal objects and models of ships (to activate this capability, the Autodesk AutoCAD 2002 program should be available).

Capabilities
The Model Wizard system is oriented primarily to the user with no 3D modeling skills, and features an intuitively clear interface based on the planar arrangement of objects. The user is provided with the capability to change the configuration of coastlines and depth contours; change the parameters of buoys and lighthouses and to add or delete them and add or delete soundings and heights.
The user can place acoustic objects in the modeling area, and associate them with lighthouses or buoys. The Model Wizard generates automatically objects like woods or inhabited localities, with the properties specified by the user within the set contour. To simplify the coast line modification or object setting work, a capability has been provided to use raster images (satellite and aerial photography materials, layouts of berths) as an underlying layer.
Object and Texture Libraries
To enable the creation of a close-to-reality virtual scene, the Model Wizard incorporates built-in object libraries of over 200 highly detailed elements, such as 3D models of aids to navigation, technical, cultural and other objects; geospecific and object textures.
The libraries of objects can be extended by creating new prototypes with the aid of the 3D object editor included in the Model Wizard.
The user only has to place the necessary object in the required spot on the chart on the “top view” (lighthouses and buoys available on the electronic chart are set automatically). The area modeling process can be checked by using programs for viewing the visual and other components.

Modeling of a Selected Sailing Area by Using the Model Wizard
| At the first stage, the user selects an area on the chart and sets the coastline configuration (such as mooring walls and embankments)
| The polygonal terrain model is built automatically from the chart data
| The generated scene can be supplemented with 3D models (prototypes) from the Object Library and any cultural objects created with the aid of the Model Wizard. Any illumination effects can be set (such as any time of the day and night or weather conditions)
| The radar scene is created automatically from the chart data and terrain
