Simrad CM60 ChartMapping System

The Simrad CM60 is a high-speed dedicated fishery plotter that uses the echo sounder depth data and the GPS lat/long data to generate topographic seabed maps in real time. The results are combined with the latest vectorised surface maps to form a powerful and complete three dimensional navigation system. Highly advanced mathematics is used to calculate the seabed mapping and build up dedicated bathymetric charts of the area sailed. Surface navigation uses today’s official S57 electronics charts or the CM-93 world coverage vector charts from C-Map. The new seafloor map generated by the Simrad CM60 is displayed integrated with the vectorised charts, and the combination appears as one seamless chart and thereby improves the details on the original seabed chart.
The seafloor calculations are fully automatic and do not require a specific sailing pattern. The seafloor becomes more accurate for each time an area is visited. The system is operated from a standard or a wire less roller ball. The keyboard is necessary for writing names and comments into the chart.
Fast zooming and seamless charts are also standard features in the CM60 chart plotter. In addition to the detailed chart you are navigating on, an additional movable overview chart is on the screen to give a view of a larger area.
Connected to a modern radar with ARPA target data output, all targets are presented on the chart. Track from each ARPA target can be saved for easier navigation. You also get course and speed for each target and distance to each target.
With the optional HT SW module, the raw data from the Simrad ES60 or the EQ60 echosounders are used to deduce the seabed harness. Both the depth and the hardness information are displayed on the Simrad CM60 seabed map. The Simrad ES/EQ60 echogram display can be shown in a window in the chart plotter giving a one-screen presentation of the plotter and the echo sounder. The operation of the echo sounder is simple with just a few buttons. Data for many hours can be stored. The area covered in the echo sounder window is indicated on the chart and the whole trip can be spooled forward and backwards. This creates a unique connection between the 3-D seafloor map and historical data from the echo sounder.
